IHSS Public Authority

The Riverside County IHSS Public Authority helps connect In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) clients with caregivers who can provide the assistance they need to remain safely and independently in their homes.

The Public Authority manages a caregiver registry that helps Riverside County IHSS clients connect with available caregivers. Clients have the choice and responsibility to select the caregiver who best meets their individual needs.

Become an IHSS Caregiver

IHSS caregivers provide essential in-home support to older adults and people with disabilities throughout Riverside County. IHSS caregivers in Riverside County currently earn $19.90 per hour. The Public Authority also works collaboratively with United Domestic Workers (UDW) to support efforts related to caregiver wages and benefits.     IHSS Caregiver Enrollment

    Whether applying to become an In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Individual Provider or joining the Public Authority’s Caregiver Registry, prospective providers can contact IHSS HOME at (888) 960-4477 to begin the application process. Phones are answered Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific time, excluding county holidays. 

    When calling the HOME line, please be prepared to identify your provider type:

    • You are an Individual Provider if you have an eligible IHSS client (recipient) to work for who has received a Notice of Action of Approval.

    • You are a Registry Provider if you do not have an eligible client (recipient) to work for or would like to be referred to new recipients.
       

     The following activities are required to complete the enrollment process:

    1. Complete a provider enrollment packet.

    1. Submit identification documents (unexpired government issued photo ID and social security card). 

    1. Complete a Live Scan and pass a criminal background check through the California Department of Justice “DOJ” using the Riverside County Live Scan form. For more information on DOJ  Click Here. 

    1. Complete state mandated video orientation online.

    1. Registry applicants only have an additional requirement to complete and pass a Drug & Alcohol test. 

    1. Register for Electronic Timesheets and Direct Deposit.

    1. Attend an in-person orientation session.

     Worker's Compensation

     If you are injured while providing services as an IHSS Home Care Provider, the Public Authority is responsible for initiating a workers' compen  sation claim and authorizing initial treatment for your work-related injury. When a work-related injury occurs, contact the Public Authority imme  diately to report your injury by calling 1(888) 960-4477.

    Health Benefits

    IHSS Caregivers in Riverside County are eligible for health coverage through Walker Insurance Solution, LLC., as long as they are meeting and maintaining eligibility requirements of 80 paid hours per month. If you have any questions regarding your health benefits or eligibility for health benefits, please call Walker Insurance Solutions, LLC, at 1(800) 883-0902. They will be happy to assist you with any health beneftis information you may need.
