DPSS Adult Services wins fourth national award
Programs honored promote aging-in-place, fight elder abuse, stream-line care & training
Riverside– Riverside County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) Adult Services Division has received a fourth prestigious award this month from the National Association of Counties (NACo) for innovative work toward allowing seniors to age-in-place.
The Healthy Aging-in-Place with Partners Involved (HAPPI) Initiative received top honors for the collaborative work between DPSS, Inland Empire Health Plan and Molina Health Care in support of older adults wishing to remain in their home as long as possible.
“Our team of professionals are extremely committed to expanding alternatives available to older adults living in Riverside County,” said Jennifer Claar, Assistant Director DPSS Adult Services. “This national recognition is very much appreciated.”
The four programs receiving NACo awards include:
- Riverside County’s Ageing-in-Place with Partners Involved (HAPPI) Initiative
- Riverside County Elder Abuse Forensic Center (EAFC)
- Centralized Orientation and Enrollment (COrE): Expediting Elder Care-A Community-based Approach
- Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Partnership (GWEP): Bridging Gaps between Professional & In-Home Geriatric Care
Riverside County garnered six NACo Achievement Awards this year, County Environmental Health earned national recognition as well.
Nationally, awards are given in 18 different categories that reflect the vast, comprehensive services counties provide. The categories include children and youth, criminal justice, county administration, information technology, health, civic engagement and many more.
NACo will recognize award-winning counties at its 2018 Annual Conference and Exposition July 13-16 in Nashville, TN.
