Social Services Symposium featured on Univision KMEX Los Angeles
Riverside-Roughly 430 community leaders, professionals and local partners gathered at the Riverside Convention Center to coordinate efforts in preventing elder and dependent abuse across Riverside County. The Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) Adult Services Division hosted the 5th Annual Elder and Dependent Abuse Awareness Symposium, the focus was the state of senior poverty in California and how communities can share resources.
This year’s symposium featured keynote speaker Amber Christ, Senior Staff Attorney with Justice in Aging. Participants also attended breakout sessions with topics such as elder abuse forensics, pharmacotherapy in older adults and Alzheimer’s disease.
The highly successful symposium was later featured on the evening news in Los Angeles by the Univision network.
